1.Why is it cool to be in the Vigils?
It gives you respect and power over the other students.
2.Obie obviously does not like Archie or being in the Vigils. Why does he stay?
Archie would probably make his life a living hell.
3.Brother Leon says sells are down because of apathy. Is that true?
No its down because Jerry's decision is spreading.
4.Is trying to get the students to sell chocolates just a game? Why or why not?
No its not a game. It is a choice and Jerry is just refusing to do it.
5.Did Jerry become a symbol to other students?
Kind of, because now they know that they have a choice to sell the chocolates.
6.Who or what gives the Vigils their power?
I think Archie and mental warfare and fear.
7. Who or what in your life gives you the courage to stand up for yourself? Who do you wish encouraged you? Why?
Myself gives me the courage to stand up for myself. I wish my friends would encounraged me more, because they are my friends. Iwould encouraged them if they needed encouragement.
8.Carter punches Rollo when he talks back to Archie. Why does he do this?
Archie has some power in the Vigils and needs to have the respect
9. Is the quote, “All schools have animals” true?
Yes, there are always going to the mean, cruel, and crazy people at any school.
10. How would the dynamics at Trinity change if it was a co-ed school?
The guys would probably be more interested in the girls and maybe less focused on the Vigils.
11. Why do people get caught up in a herd mentality?
Everyone strives to fit in and be accepted, but being like everyone else just cause more issues.
12. “Funny – someone does violence to you but you’re the one who has to hide, as if you’re the criminal.” Explain this quote. Is this true in real life? Give examples.
The quote is saying that even though you didn't commit the crime you are the one who will be ridiculed. This is true in real life. The bully somehow always wins.
13. What is the difference between a spirit of brotherhood and what the boys at Trinity have?The boys at Trinity are mean to each other and other people. Brotherhood is about being for each other and other people.
14. Did Jerry have to go to the field to fight?
No, but he would have suffered more if he didn't.
15. What would you have done in Jerry’s situation?
I would have gone and hoped for the best. I would rather not suffer more than I had to.
16. To what lengths would you go to stand up for something .
I would stand up for anything I believe in.
